Oh What a Night!

Our Second Annual Community Awards Did Not Disappoint

On Monday 20th April, the Council Hall opened it’s doors to 99 guests who attended this year’s Annual Parish Meeting and Second Annual Community Awards!

Our first thanks must go to Caister Tesco who sponsored this year’s event. To our award sponsors also who were Oasis Pool – Scratby, Batchelor Electrical Services and Fenn & Co. And of course to our wonderful sponsors/supporters at Creative Decorations and Belles and Beaus Venue Styling for bringing the glam to the decor!

This year we had over 60 nominations across the three categories and the winners were chosen by last year’s available winners.

Everyone who received a nomination was invited along to the event to collect their certificate presented by Caister Parish Council’s Chair, Kevin Wood.

We also heard from 11 local groups telling us about what they do, how you can get involved and picking a highlight from the past 12 months to share.

The Winners

We had two winners in the Community Hero Under 18 Category – with both Amelia Roughton and Danny Gooda proving too difficult to separate!

The Community Hero Over 18 Award winner was Sinead Southern for not only being the driving force behind Caister Festival for several years but for always having the community at the heart of her next plans!

The Spirit of Caister Award went this year to Jackie Beales – leading a small group of volunteers, Jackie has led the Community Sensory Garden project from a pipe dream to reality and we can’t wait to see the finished article.

We also had a special award this year – Community Legacy Award – which was presented posthumously to Joy Hunt for her contribution to the village and collected by her son.

A huge thank you to everyone that nominated, came along and supported this event – Here’s to an even bigger turnout next year (and to making sure we get some more chairs)!
